Intermediate Procurement Specialist

We are looking for high performing procurement professionals with energy drive and ambition to join our client’s talented team, proudly building naval ships for Canada, in North America’s most modern shipbuilding facility, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Successful applicants will have a track record of making an impact on the performance of global supply chains and building high performing operational and commercial supplier relationships.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Supplier management including:
- Develop and improve supplier quality, cost, and delivery performance
- Issue POs for material
- Contract management including:
- Negotiate contracts and long-term agreements
- Execution of negotiated contract through the businesses ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) & MRP (Material Resource Planning) systems.
- Provide advice on contractual claims
- Integrated sourcing initiatives including:
- Develop and implement category sourcing strategies
- Analyse market conditions (ex: pricing, availability, lead-time and capacity)
- Continuous improvement including:
- Support new product introduction activities
- Apply the principles of continuous improvement to the design and development of supply chain processes
- Undertake cost analysis for direct material and services
Qualifications & Experience:
- University Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Science or Engineering
- Supply Chain Procurement experience in the Shipbuilding industry
- The following Supply Chain accreditations would be considered an asset: SCMP, MCIPS or ISM
- Previous experience with New Build Shipbuilding is preferred
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills
- Strong sense of urgency to complete tasks
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Previous exposure to market analytics and insights
- Fluency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of industry wide Project Controls systems
