All responsibilities of the ship’s systems are divided between the SREs. All systems thus have a person in charge. The SRE is an expert on and the chief designer of his or her systems. The SRE is responsible for the system’s operation, compliance, overall cost, schedule and development. In principle, the SRE is expected to be the expert of the assigned system(s) from early design until end of warranty period after delivery of vessel.

Main responsibilities:

• Monitor the technical development, compliance and acceptance of systems, also considering the related safety and environmental aspects
• Understand the environmental impact of systems during the product life cycle
• Know the latest rules and regulations and follow up developments
• Collect technical statistics and key figures of the system
• Develop standard structures and standards with Yard’s other disciplines
• Conduct product development with suppliers
• Process and take into account feedback and initiatives
• Support supply chain to define system’s material budget and procure the bids in cooperation with the procurement department
• Estimate system cost during sales phase with related commercial and technical risks
• Develop specification and related supporting documentation in respect to his/her system (requirements etc.) together with lead engineer
• Interface with different disciplines to resolve and/or escalate issues to leads as necessary

Qualifications & Experience:

• Relevant degree qualification
• Extensive industry experience in similar position

Expected Salary: $130k – $150k CAD (depending on experience)
