Interior Project Manager
Marine People are partnered with a UK-based turnkey marine outfitting specialist delivering interior design, manufacture, and installation across naval, cruise, and ferry sectors.
The company provides complete accommodation and public-space packages—including cabins, catering areas, sanitary facilities, medical spaces, and technical compartments—supporting projects from concept design through installation and lifecycle support. Working closely with shipyards and prime contractors, they are recognised for managing complex, regulation-driven interiors under single-contract responsibility across both defence and commercial newbuild and refit programmes.
Role & Responsibilities
- Manage assigned project packages or complete projects once internal and client approvals are secured
- Plan and organise project delivery to meet agreed scope, programme, and commercial targets
- Create high-level programmes and detailed activity plans covering preparation, mobilisation, and installation phases
- Monitor progress against schedule, cost, and technical requirements, identifying risks and implementing corrective actions
- Produce regular progress and financial reports, clearly outlining variances and recovery actions
- Act as the primary day-to-day contact for the client, maintaining clear and professional communication throughout delivery
- Lead project meetings including kick-off, coordination, progress, and completion reviews (remote and site-based)
- Coordinate procurement of materials, subcontract labour, and specialist services with internal stakeholders
- Support commercial and logistics processes such as shipping documentation and material invoicing
- Oversee site activities, monitoring workforce levels and productivity and recommending adjustments where required
- Ensure all works comply with health & safety legislation, site rules, and PPE requirements
- Take ownership of smaller projects to ensure delivery meets contractual, quality, and financial expectations
- Carry out any additional duties appropriate to the role as required by management
Requirements
Knowledge:
- Understanding of marine sectors including cruise, ferry, defence, or large yacht environments
- Familiarity with multi-trade interior outfitting systems and construction methods
Technical & Professional Skills:
- Experience planning and executing onboard or complex interior fit-out works
- Proficiency with standard office and project management software
- Strong organisational, scheduling, and prioritisation skills
- Confident communicator able to engage clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Good numerical, analytical, and problem-solving capability
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail

- Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and written scopes
- Comfortable using measurement and survey equipment to quantify works
- Collaborative team player suited to a small delivery-focused environment
Additional Criteria:
- Demonstrated ability to plan, negotiate, and make decisions within a commercial project setting
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Willingness to travel frequently within the UK and internationally, sometimes at short notice
- Experience in marine or comparable interior fit-out environments
- Subject to company medical, drug, and alcohol compliance requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction, or project management desirable but not essential
- Proven experience supervising site teams across multiple trades
- Right to live and work in the United Kingdom
- Availability for extended overseas assignments for surveys and project delivery
