Elomatic Consulting Inc., based in Vancouver, is the Canadian subsidiary of Elomatic Oy, a leading Finnish engineering and consulting company with operations across Europe. In Canada, we serve the shipbuilding and marine sectors with advanced engineering services, specializing in concept, basic, and production design for complex vessels, including icebreakers, naval and coast guard ships, and offshore assets.

As part of a global organization, the Vancouver office connects local expertise with Elomatic’s extensive international resources. We collaborate closely with European offices and partners to deliver high-quality, fit-for-yard engineering solutions tailored to Canadian and North American needs. Our work spans across national programs as well as commercial and international projects, ensuring we remain a trusted partner across the full spectrum of marine and offshore industries.

Looking forward, our vision is to strengthen Canada’s role in Arctic operations while also advancing innovative products such as Elogrid and Float Foundation. These are part of a broader offering designed to bring world-class expertise and technologies to both national priorities and global markets.

Elomatic Canada has built a strong foundation, but now we want to accelerate our growth. We are seeking a new Managing Director to take the company to the next level, expand our market presence, and lead our talented team into the future.

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Business Development:

  • Define and implement the strategic direction of the Vancouver office
  • Expand Elomatic’s market presence in Canada and North America
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations (including IRB)
  • Gather and analyze local market environment and develop sales leads
  • Lead sales and marketing activities in Canada
  • Represent Elomatic Consulting Inc. in business, industry, and professional forums
  • Build and sustain strong, collaborative relationships with the Navy, Coast Guard, shipyards, government, and other strategic partners
  • Reports to and collaborates with the Marine BU’s senior leadership while aligning on strategic and operational priorities in Canada

Engineering Management

  • Act as the local PMO supporting and ensuring project delivery, communication, governance and documentation
  • Act as the highest authority within proper chain of command and coordinate project matters between clients and Elomatic as needed
  • Oversee local engineering contracts when so defined
  • Maintain and strengthen close collaboration between Canada, Elomatic headquarters in Finland, and partner offices internationally

People Management & Recruitment:

  • Act as the line manager for Vancouver Design Managers & administration, supervising daily personnel management and operations
  • Lead employee competence development and management
  • Oversee recruitment and resource planning for the office
  • Promote Elomatic’s employer brand and attract and retain skilled professionals and top talent
  • Shape and strengthen workplace culture by promoting trust, pride, and enjoyment, driving employee engagement and collaboration in line with Elomatic values and way of working
  • Develop and maintain company HR practices, policies and benefits in close collaboration with global HR

Operational Efficiency & Compliance:

  • Supervise the development of the office’s design processes and activities
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian engineering regulations, industry standards and general commercial requirements (e.g. CSP)
  • Act as the responsible officer for EGBC
  • Supervise management of local operational contracts
  • Oversee cost control for Canadian operations
  • Supervise management of office supplies and tools (incl. IT)

Ideal Candidate Profile

  • Industry Background: Extensive experience with governmental organizations, including the Navy and Coast Guard, or with comparable private-sector companies in the maritime, offshore energy, or defense sectors.
  • Technical Credibility: Proven strong technical background to be able to engage confidently and credibly in technical discussions with clients, partners, and industry peers.
  • Business Leadership: Proven leadership in sales, partnerships, and navigating large procurement-driven business cycles.
  • Networks & Relationships: Established relationships with the Canadian government and industry, with the ability to leverage them for business development.
  • People Leadership: Genuinely interested in people, skilled at mentoring and supporting team members, fostering collaboration, growth, and high performance through an approachable and open leadership style.
  • Cross-Cultural Competence: Has practical international business experience, with the ability to align diverse offices, navigate cultural differences, and manage effectively in a multicultural Canadian workplace.
  • Willingness to travel: Travel days within North America (and occasionally to Finland).
  • Flexibility: To accommodate meetings outside regular working hours due to time zone differences (typically around 7:00 a.m. and occasionally in the evening).

Schedule:

Ideal start in May 2026.

  • Estimated salary max. $250,000 CAD/year
