PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- Ensure vessel projects are designed and built to agreed requirements on budget.
- Act as principal point of responsibility for all aspects of vessel construction and commissioning.
- Prepare schedules and resource plans and monitor all schedules and resource plans
- Responsible for producing necessary charts and the suggested unit breakdown diagrams and unit identification. Produce the high-level unit and assembly plan and the high-level resource graphs.
- High-level capacity planning through Primavera 6 model or MS Project
- High-level unit sequencing plan
- General Arrangement marked up into units boundary’s ready for design to produce unit breakdown drawing to take to Project Team for check plot.
- Drawing required date for each unit
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Construction of vessels on time and on budget
- Ensure that achieving Vessel Zone Milestones is a predominant focus for all Projects Department members.
- Review weekly zone commitments to ensure that ongoing work is commensurate with planned milestone achievement.
- Ensure that the likelihood of any failures in milestone achievement planned or otherwise, are promptly communicated to all relevant Project Team Coordinators.
- Minimise reworks by encouraging good communication and coordination of activities involving multi-disciplines.
- Maximise productivity through morale boosting and the encouragement of a strong work ethic.
- Monitor all work, continuously questioning proposed work through the Design phase, work underway and completed work against the requirements of the Specification and Contract.
- Monitor the performance of vessel supervision with regards to their implementation of the Fundamentals of Supervision and provide feedback to Department Manager and Foremen as required.
- Implementation and maintenance of the Project Management Plan
- Provide input to the high level planning process with regard to the definition of Zones and the development of the high level overview, design planning and production planning schedules.
- Active in the initial and ongoing risk analysis and the development and maintenance of constraint management plans.
- Establish and monitor labour and material budgets, liaise with the Finance Department and the Department Managers on cost issues
- Provide input during budget ratification process
- Ensure that all significant rework is brought to the attention of the Production Departments and Management and are logged appropriately.
- Implement and monitor all schedules, resource and materials procurement plans, and resolve any abnormalities with the Department Manager.
- Monitor housekeeping standards, compliance to PPE, safe behaviour and assign housekeeping responsibilities, to ensure a good safe working environment.
- Ensure a smooth interaction between all Departments and external contractors and resolve conflicts that may hinder scheduled progress.
- Collate, cost, action and approve all variations and any additional work requested by the Client.
- Ensure the Client’s Clas or Flag issues are attended to and resolved.
- Ensure that all the Pre-Commissioning Checklists, Commissioning Procedures and Inspection Checklists are issued and completed as appropriate by all Departments.
- Inspect and approve the vessel prior to launch and sea trials and coordinate all sea trial activities.
- Approve the commissioning team for sea trials and delivery via heavy-lift ship or own power.
- Liaise with Marketing and PR for VIP trials, photo shoots and open days, etc.
- Monitor quality standards and give feedback to the concerned Department Managers.
- Monitor weight abuse on vessels and ensure records are collated as detailed in the PMP.
- Responsible for vessel security

- Ability to drive the team to achieve the target KPIs on People, Quality, Safety, Delivery, Environment/Equipment, Cost.
- Ability to interpret drawings and generate specific job list.
- Ability to generate reports, schedule, presentations and data using MS Excel, Word, Power point and Project software.
- Ability to communicate professionally both oral and written including emails.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be Licensed or Engineering Graduate preferably with project management experience.
- Extensive experience in equivalent fields in the manufacturing operation with managerial experience in handling people & possesses leadership skills.
- Has good written & oral communication.
