Partner with Project delivery team to improve the Company’s HSEQ operational performance, including the implementation of the business’ integrated HSEQ management system, with the overall objective of influencing and negotiating cultural change to achieve a Zero Harm work environment, including minimise injuries, unplanned occurrences, environmental harm, equipment damage whilst promoting responsible use of resources as well as compliance with statutory and Company requirements.

Position Description:

  • Act as Return-to-Work Coordinator and assist in identifying suitable work for injured employees.
  • Coordinate inductions, training, and competency assessments of operational employees.
  • Lead by example: establish and maintain consistent performance standards with regards to organisational and inter department support, safe, efficient, respectful, and profitable work practices.
  • Establish open & honest lines of communication between all employees.
  • Provide support with conflict resolution to achieve the best outcome with minimum disruption to the organisation and employees involved.
  • Actively participate in performance development plans.
  • In accordance with business programmes, cascade messages through the work sites via regular toolbox meetings and associated lines of communication ensuring safety talks and walks are a regular occurrence.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure the delivery and application of fundamental HSEQ processes.
    • Participate and record daily site observation via a minimum of two site walks per day.
    • Coach mentor and guide team members in the field to include commendation and resolving deviations.
    • Record observations, inspections, audits, and actions as applicable.
    • Prepare and submit weekly toolbox talks to the HSEQ Manager.
    • Participate in safe workplace reviews, including hazard identification, assessment, control, and monitoring.
    • Ensure site and project wide satisfaction with Zero Harm services.
    • Deliver accurate, credible, and timely reporting that provides a basis for factual decision-making by Stakeholders.
    • Assist in the audit process, through coaching team members on the HSE standards and elements of HSEQ.
    • Coordinate and develop process improvement and standard work methodology across activities to drive continuous improvement and process stability.
  • Profitable Business Growth:
    • Drive the HSEQ plan and support project team in their HSEQ improvement journey.
    • Stop any unsafe work and correct the activity.
    • Support and provide guidance to project teams to set up and maintain quality and safety management plans in accordance with the client and company requirements.
    • Drive risk reduction strategies with operational management to ensure highly effective HSEQ practices that diminish risk year-on-year and are aligned to our Zero Harm programme.

Person Specification

  • Professional Experience
    • Tertiary qualification in Workplace Health and Safety, minimum Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety.
    • Extensive practical experience in medium-large multi-divisional organisation.
    • Return to Work Coordinator Certificate / Experience
    • Internal Auditor certification
    • Experience working with management systems – ISO9001 / 14001 /45001
    • Certificate IV Training and Assessment highly desirable
    • Incident investigation training (ICAM and or equivalent)
