OVERVIEW

Our client are looking to hire an experienced, full-time Project Manager with an understanding of the marine industry—and the self-confidence to tackle new challenges in shipbuilding and repair. Reporting to the Sr. Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) & Engineering, the Project Manager will be responsible for planning/scheduling, executing, monitoring/controlling, and closing projects.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define the project’s scope with Tendering Department
  • Develop a Project Schedule and man-loading document for each assigned project
  • Assign, prioritise, and supervise project tasks (Set milestones and deadlines)
  • Manage project resources and their costs
  • Track project performance using appropriate KPIs and reporting them to the Director of Project Management on a weekly basis
  • Implement and manage changes – communicate change orders to Tendering Department
  • Identify, prevent, and manage risks
  • Submit deliverables and ensure they adhere to quality standards
  • Perform any other relevant, project-related duties when needed
  • Organise and participate in client meetings
  • Ensure customer satisfaction
  • Manage communication with Clients
  • Communicate with all Supervisors to ensure they have the required information and resources to carry out their tasks effectively
  • Ensures that Project Managers create and maintains project reports (i.e. pictorial and inspection)
  • Oversees communicating and reporting relevant information to clients
  • Develops continuous improvements practices
  • Serves as a technical resource for the Project Management Department
  • Assist the Purchasing Department with material procurement

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering
  • Extensive construction experience as a project manager, project engineer, or project coordinator
  • Candidates meeting or exceeding the abovementioned qualifications will receive preference if they possess a minimum of experience in marine repair, maintenance, and/or construction.
  • Ability to read and understand engineered design drawings
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Word and Project), CAD, etc.
