Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a point of contact between engineering and production departments
  • Interpret and clarify technical drawings, specifications, and design intent for production teams
  • Identify and resolve design-to-build issues, ensuring alignment with project timelines and quality standards
  • Support production planning by providing engineering input on build sequences, material usage, and structural integration
  • Facilitate design change management, ensuring updates are communicated and implemented effectively
  • Conduct regular site walkdowns to monitor progress, identify issues, and provide engineering support
  • Collaborate with naval architects, structural engineers, and outfit designers to optimise constructability
  • Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement of design and production processes
  • Ensure compliance with classification society rules and shipyard standards during execution

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree or HND in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience in shipbuilding or heavy marine fabrication, ideally in a liaison or production support role
  • Strong understanding of shipyard processes, structural fabrication, outfitting, and modular construction
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and 3D models
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution
  • Familiarity with design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ShipConstructor, SolidWorks) and production planning tools

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with classification societies and regulatory bodies
  • Knowledge of welding standards, material specifications, and structural tolerances
  • Ability to lead cross-functional meetings and drive collaborative problem-solving
  • Understanding of digital shipbuilding workflows and PLM systems
