Job description:

Our client is seeking to recruit an Assistant Director of Infrastructure, Quality and Environment to help lead the comprehensive management of infrastructure maintenance processes, the implementation and supervision of quality systems, and environmental management within the naval industry. The selected candidate will work with the other departments to ensure safety, quality and sustainability across all shipyard operations.

Management and coordination of preventive and corrective maintenance work at the Shipyard, workshops, machinery, dry dock and floating dock. High-voltage installations, transformers, low-voltage systems, compressed air, fire protection, IT and communications installations, both mobile and fixed, and radio-frequency systems.

Environmental protection procedures, both on land and at sea; coordination of waste management; procurement of suppliers and services; environmental analysis and reporting; and collaboration in drills. Implementation, auditing and monitoring of Quality and Environmental procedures, as well as collaboration and involvement with the Health and Safety department in the corresponding audits of occupational risk prevention, self-protection plans and safety. Studies for new innovation, improvement and development projects. Collaboration and involvement in the implementation of organisational procedures across all areas of the company.

Institutional representation and liaison with all public administrations.

Responsibilities:

  • Infrastructure Management: Supervise the maintenance, repair and improvement of the shipyard’s facilities and equipment. Plan the acquisition and modernisation of infrastructure according to the shipyard’s needs.
  • Quality Management: Implement and ensure compliance with quality management systems (ISO 9001). Supervise and conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with applicable quality regulations.
  • Environmental Management: Develop and implement environmental policies that ensure compliance with local and international regulations (ISO 14001, MARPOL, etc.). Supervise sustainable practices and the reduction of the environmental impact of shipyard operations.
  • Industrial Safety: Ensure that all activities are carried out in accordance with occupational health and safety regulations. Supervise training and compliance with safety regulations by workers and contractors.
  • Continuous improvement: Promote continuous improvement initiatives within operational processes, with the aim of optimising resources, reducing costs and increasing efficiency.
  • Coordination and leadership: Lead, coordinate and motivate multidisciplinary teams responsible for infrastructure, quality and environment areas, as well as interact with other areas of the shipyard and external stakeholders.

Candidate profile:

Academic background: University degree in Industrial Engineering, Naval Engineering, Technical Engineering or similar. Additional training in quality management (ISO 9001), environment (ISO 14001) or project management will be valued.

Professional experience: Experience in positions of responsibility in infrastructure, quality and/or environment within the naval industry or a related industrial sector.

Technical knowledge: Solid knowledge of infrastructure management, quality processes, environmental regulations and industrial safety. Knowledge of the rules and regulations applicable to the industrial and facilities sector.

Personal skills: Leadership ability, organisational skills, proactivity, ability to work under pressure and make strategic decisions. Communication skills to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and manage relationships with suppliers, customers and competent authorities.

Languages: Fluency in Spanish and intermediate level of technical English (other languages will be valued)
