At Marine People, we are delighted to announce our recent signing of the Armed Forces Covenant, a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting the UK’s armed forces community.

On 25th September 2024, we were lucky to be invited to a special event hosted by 6 Regiment Army Air Corps where our Founder and Director, James Martin, officially signed the Armed Forces Covenant.

This business breakfast, held at the Army Aviation Centre in Middle Wallop, offered us a unique opportunity to connect with Reservists, meet inspiring business leaders, and get an up-close look at one of their the Apache Helicopters. A massive thank you to Andrew Gibbs and Lt Col Alice Archer for organising and hosting today’s event.

Our commitment to the Armed Forces Covenant reflects our ongoing support for those who serve or have served in the Armed Forces, and we look forward to building on this commitment in the future. This important pledge reflects our dedication to ensuring that service personnel, veterans, and their families receive the recognition, respect, and support they deserve within our society and the shipbuilding industry.

What Is the Armed Forces Covenant?

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise to those who serve, have served, and their families, ensuring they are treated fairly and with respect. It is a commitment from businesses, local authorities, charities, and the public, to recognise the sacrifices made by armed forces personnel. The Covenant ensures that they are not disadvantaged in their everyday lives due to their service and, in some cases, receive special consideration, particularly for those who have given the most.

By becoming a signatory of the Armed Forces Covenant, Marine People join a growing number of organisations across the UK that are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of those who protect our nation. This pledge aligns with our core values of respect, integrity, and dedication, and it strengthens our ongoing efforts to support the armed forces community in a meaningful way.

Why This Matters to Marine People

As a leading recruitment specialist in the shipbuilding industry, Marine People has a long-standing tradition of connecting highly skilled professionals with industry-leading companies across the globe. We recognise that many individuals who have served in the armed forces possess a wealth of expertise, experience, and dedication that are invaluable in the shipbuilding sector.

Our work involves assisting in the recruitment for roles that require specialised skills and a deep understanding of the maritime environment—skills that are often honed through military service. By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, we reaffirm our commitment to helping veterans and serving personnel transition into rewarding civilian careers. We believe that these individuals bring unique strengths to the table, including leadership, problem-solving abilities, and a strong work ethic—qualities that are highly sought after in the shipbuilding industry.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, Marine People is excited to deepen our engagement with the armed forces community and build strong, lasting relationships that benefit both the individuals and the companies we serve. We are committed to creating a workplace environment where veterans, service members and their families can thrive and continue to make a positive impact in the maritime industry.

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant is just the beginning. We are eager to explore new ways to support those who have served our country, ensuring they have access to the opportunities they deserve. Together, we can help these skilled professionals build successful, fulfilling careers.

Marine People is proud to stand with the armed forces community, and we look forward to making a difference—one career at a time.
