A prominent manufacturer specialising in large composite structures, the client operates various sites on the South Coast. They offer a full-service composite manufacturing process, covering everything from design and engineering to part production and final assembly.
This position involves managing a variety of customer accounts, both new and established, to deliver high-quality composite parts. Ensuring profitability while sometimes working independently on customer projects or as part of a larger team, the role demands a practical approach.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee projects from initial concept to final delivery
- Handle commercial responsibilities, including estimating costs
- Manage customer accounts effectively
- Create innovative solutions for part manufacturing
- Design tools as needed
- Manage the input of new items into Progress, maintain and update BOMs, load sales orders, and provide delivery notes for projects
- Clarify project requirements with customers before manufacturing begins
- Develop Engineering Management plans, including scheduling and resource estimates
- Generate clear manufacturing work instructions
- Ensure timely availability of materials through direct procurement or by delegating procurement tasks
- Update layup books and sign-off sheets in response to quality issues or part evolution
- Collaborate with the quality team to ensure best practices
- Manage the production of components within the factory and coordinate with external suppliers as necessary
- Coordinate shop-floor part manufacturing with production supervisors
- Assist in operating and maintaining shop-floor equipment such as autoclaves and ovens
- Keep up-to-date with relevant technical and quality knowledge
- Experience with Siemens NX or SolidWorks is highly beneficial
- Occasional travel within the UK and overseas
Experience & Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering
- Experience in a similar role
- Familiarity with composite and GRP materials and manufacturing
