Our client is seeking an experienced Project Manager who is comfortable collaborating with industry experts, while making a significant impact on heavy fabrication projects from inception to completion.

This is a critical role that involves leading and managing complex projects with our military, new build, and construction customers.

Role Responsibilities

  • Working on site full time at Birkenhead, you will own the relationship with our customers as our senior representative, attending customer meetings, collaborating with other Project Managers and our Senior Leadership Team
  • Be able to oversee the compilation of weekly and monthly reports including budget forecasts, financial and commercial reviews and monthly detailed contract reviews with the customer
  • You’ll oversee projects from the initial estimating, design and planning stages through to final delivery, ensuring all design, technical, financial, and stakeholder requirements are met
  • Leading projects from inception to timely completion, you’ll manage and coordinate all stakeholders by developing and executing detailed project plans, including timelines, resource allocation and budget management
  • You’ll facilitate communication and collaboration while monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and implementing mitigation strategies
  • All will be done ensuring compliance with industry standards and client specifications, providing regular project updates and reports to your senior leadership team and our clients.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience as a Project Manager in Marine fabrication/construction, where you have performed under pressure with a working knowledge of the procedures and processes undertaken in shipyards
  • Good commercial and contract experience
  • A proven record of high value budget and Earned value management (would need to provide evidence of this)
  • Knowledge of shipyard trade skills and their scope of work
  • If you’ve worked with military or defence contractors, where you have gained experience of MoD single source contracting and SSRO requirements, that would be great.
  • Strong leadership will be key to success in this role, as well as your team management, and vital communication and interpersonal skills are critical when working with a large and expanding team
  • A strong understanding of commercial aspects of projects so that you can make informed decisions while managing multiple projects simultaneously with conflicting priorities
  • An APM or Prince 2 Project Management qualification would be ideal along with proficiency with project management software and tools
