As Sales Director, your primary responsibility will be to lead and drive the global sales strategy, transforming leads and prospects into valuable customer orders.

This role offers the chance to shape the future of the business, ensuring their sustained growth in the electric propulsion, marine autonomy and technology sectors.

The organisation is a market leader in electric propulsion, smart technology for boats and marine autonomy. They serve a wide range of sectors, including harbour workboats, military craft, recreational boats, survey vessels and uncrewed autonomous systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Generating Sales.  Being involved with key and larger customers directly but able to work at all scales and stages.
  • Ownership of the development and delivery of sales strategy
  • Accountable for recruitment, management, and performance of global sales team
    • Lead and mentor the sales team
    • Sets sales team member targets and incentivisation (agreed with CEO)
  • Accountable for development, recruitment and management of agent and distribution networks
  • Inform global sales target setting with CEO and accountable for delivery of agreed targets
  • Identify new opportunities to expand organisations global reach
  • Work closely with the marketing and product teams to align on shared goals and streamline sales, product and marketing efforts
  • Understand customer needs and advise on the most suitable products to meet their requirements
  • Stay up-to-date with organisations technical product offerings, ensuring deep knowledge of the products and industry trends
  • Conduct market research and gather feedback from clients to continually improve existing products and services
  • Undertake demonstrations to customers and key clients, including the press.
  • Simplify technical concepts during product demonstrations and provide exceptional post-sales customer support
  • Maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with existing clients while actively seeking new clients to grow sales territories
  • Identify and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for yourself and your team, with monthly progress reports
  • Represent organisation’s Propulsion with professionalism and positivity at all times, enhancing the brand’s reputation
  • Ensure health and safety protocols are prioritised during installation support and guidance
  • Manage the CRM tool and pipeline

The ideal candidate:

  • Proven experience in sales leadership, ideally within the commercial marine, defence, leisure or technology sectors
  • Strong ability to manage and develop a high-performing team
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for building relationships and negotiating effectively
  • A deep understanding of technical products and the ability to simplify complex concepts for clients
  • Self-motivated, results-driven, action orientated and able to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment
  • Comfortable with both national and international travel, including site visits, boat shows, and client meetings

Location:

This role is primarily based at our head office in Southampton, with a flexible hybrid work option for the right candidate. Regular on-site presence (3+ days/week) is essential to build strong rapport with the team and understand the technology first-hand.
