In this role, you will:
- Be a technical lead within the weapons and combat systems engineering section
- Draft, review, and approve repair specifications for submarine maintenance activities
- Provide mentoring and professional oversight for a team of up to 5 engineers-in-training and technologists
- Assess, document, and communicate risks associated with submarine weapons handling and discharge systems
- Be responsive to Program and Project Managers for dynamic program delivery requirements in a shipyard waterfront environment
- Be the system’s technical lead and provide oversight on complex fault diagnosis activities and system operations involving non-standard line-ups or modified configurations
- Identify risks, opportunities and appropriate treatments
- Ensure lessons from experience (LFE) are collated and recorded in the management system
- Conduct other duties as necessary or as reasonably assigned from time to time
The ideal candidate brings:
- A post-secondary Engineering degree in a relevant field (Master’s degree desirable)
- Licensed to practice in British Columbia as a Professional Engineer or are able to complete such registration within 12 months
- Offshore oil and gas drilling or naval vessel operational experience, an asset
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and practices an asset
- Proof that you are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, meaning that you must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the Government of Canada with the final dose at least 14 days prior to your start date
- You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
