We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Process Engineer to join our client’s team in Devonport. In this critical role, you will assist and support the Design Manager in delivering project scope, managing nuclear process engineering packages from inception to handover. Your expertise will ensure technical excellence, quality management, and effective project implementation.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work on high-impact projects within the Strategic Infrastructure Business Unit, contributing to the success of major engineering ventures in the shipbuilding industry.
Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the role is to ultimately assist and support the Design Manager in the delivery of project scope. This will include the likes of the following:
- To manage the delivery of nuclear process, work packages to the required scope, quality, schedule and cost
- Responsible for managing the technical aspects of nuclear process engineering packages from identification of the need, through to handover
- Develop, lead and manage one or more technical design packages agreeing project related objectives, managing designer performance and making appropriate technical management responses
- Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required by the Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule and budget
- Plan for effective project implementation, identifying key factors and leading the project’s technical planning process
- Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements, operate and deliver through compliance with Business Management System and Technical Manual
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied
- Ensure that staff and contractors are familiar with the hazards and risks associated with the work undertaken by the delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of the Risk Assessment
- The Process Engineer post operates as part of the Strategic Infrastructure Business Unit
- The Process Engineer is accountable to the Design Manager for the technical management (quality) of assigned packages
- The Process Engineer post has no responsibility for any Systems, Structures, Plant or Equipment

Qualifications & Experience:
The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Preferably Chartered Engineer status and member of relevant institute or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
