Mechanical Engineer
Job purpose:
To manage activities, monitor and progress of all production projects within department to ensure they are delivered to the correct specification and within the agreed timescales and budgets.
Objectives:
- Following schedules to maintain deliveries dates
- Being able to cross trade when needed
- Ability to inspect products for fit, form and function requirements
- Able to suggest improved methodology relating to all mechanical assemblies
- Motivate staff to achieve departmental and personal objectives
- Understand company values & help achieve them
- Ensure staff work to the correct standards and procedures
- Develop and encourage team work and participation
- Forward planning to make sure project follows to schedule
- Develop, encourage and to apply mechanical engineering principles to identify, analyse, and solve complex engineering problems, ensuring practical and cost-effective solutions
- To ensure that all mechanical systems, products, and components quality standards through testing and validation
- Maintain standards for health and safety within department
- Take responsibility to ensure that the company’s environmental policies are enforced in full
- To reduce the frequency and severity of workplace accidents by implementing comprehensive safety programs and promoting safe work behaviours
Qualifications / Experience:
- Ability to coach and develop other members of staff
- Capable of working with customers and staff at all levels
- Ability to motivate others who are not direct reports
- Ability to generate a positive project and team ethos
- Being able to work independent abroad for current customers
- Experienced lathe & mill operator
- Knowledge or experience in Marine industry
- Marine engineering

Salary
Up to £40,000 per annum
