Senior/Principal Electrical Engineers

Marine People are delighted to be searching for Electrical Engineers – for Senior, through to Principal roles – for our client, a defence and security specialist at their site in Portsmouth.

These roles will require 2-3 days per week on site in Portsmouth with the remainder remote working.

Responsibilities include:

  • Electrical Engineers are required to apply theoretical knowledge and practical experience in order to support design, equipment/system integration, fault diagnosis and fault resolution for power and propulsion systems
  • Provides technical input for all Electrical tasks and provides evidence for the delivery of design integrity and product safety at both a Platform Systems and equipment level.
  • Principal and Senior Electrical Engineers are responsible for taking on tasks across the wider group and help support the more junior members of the team

Core duties

  • Conducting a wide range of activities including feasibility studies, research, design, development and post design services, involving the full Engineering Lifecycle, to meet defined project or business requirements
  • Ensuring that work is undertaken in accordance with Company, Safety, Environmental, contractual and local business processes, standards, procedures and documentation
  • Drafting, vetting and editing technical reports or other documents relevant to, or required by, a particular task in order to ensure that technical findings can be successfully communicated with recipients
  • Preparation and submission of technical proposals and tenders as directed by bid manager in order to provide costed proposals for future work
  • Maintain accurate records of all design related work in accordance with relevant extant procedures to ensure a complete design record of work undertaken
  • Ensuring adequate integration with other engineering functions involved with a particular task or programme of work to ensure all aspects of the Electrical system design are considered
  • Liaison with Customers, MOD establishments, test facilities, sub-contractors and customers as required to satisfy the needs of project or the business
  • Promoting the skill areas capabilities and department to attract new work
  • Adopt a professional approach to all Electrical design solutions to ensure knowledge and skills keep pace with the technology
