Senior Engineer – Power Engineering

As a Senior or Principal Engineer – Power Engineering, you will be supporting ongoing Submarine programmes throughout the design phases of the engineering lifecycle.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior or Principal Engineer – Power Engineering will involve:

  • Undertaking functional design, providing specialist advice and producing evidence in support of legislative, safety and technical requirements
  • Liaising with internal and external customers as part of a technical team
  • Undertaking peer reviews
  • Articulating and presenting technical arguments, clearly, logically and simply
  • Executing, evaluating, delivering and managing complex engineering and/or cross functional tasks/ programmes of work recognising stakeholder and customer requirements
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for personal and team development to ensure that professional capability of the business and individual are maintained and improved
  • Your skills and qualifications as a Senior or Principal Engineer – Power Engineering:
  • Essential:
  • Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Demonstrable experience of engineering system design in any of the technical specialities listed below:
  • Electrical generators
  • High voltage switchgear
  • Power system protection
  • Power electronics
  • Desirable:
  • Chartered Engineer status or willingness to achieve
  • Background in Marine/Maritime engineering
  • Experience in Power system modelling and analysis using Matlab and Simulink
